I spoke to an old school acquaintance in August about my network marketing business. We kept failing to find a time to get together – sometimes it goes like that.
I called him a few times and then I realised, he wasn’t answering or returning calls; or texts; or Facebook messages! I wasn’t stalking him, but tried to connect with him via a couple of different methods.
I then tried him once a month or so since then.
Today he left a voicemail, and then text me out the blue, reiterating that he’d let me a voicemail and can I call him back asap!
I rang him back. “Sorry I didn’t come back to you, but thanks for trying me a few times. I wasn’t deliberately being ignorant – I had a big problem at work…and some challenges at home…but everything is back in a good place…how do I sign up as a distributor?”
Remember, whilst your network marketing business may be your big priority, life often gets in the way for your prospects for whom it is not yet a priority. If you take that personally, then you’ll miss out on some great new team members over time.
As Jordan Adler says in ‘Beach Money’ (if you’ve not ordered the book or audio yet, then you’re missing out!) – some people join, many don’t, but just keep in touch with them every now and again – become their friend, and then some of them will join (these aren’t the direct words, but you get the drift!).
