The awkward moment you’ve been waiting for in network marketing

Let me start with an income alert – those that know me well or have seen me speak, or read my book, or listened to my CD, will hopefully appreciate that I do not talk about income as a method of status building, as it never sits comfortably with me.

I know some Leaders use it as the barometer of how incredible they are, and a beating stick, and yes, is represents success in your business, but it’s just a number and doesn’t define you. What matters most to me is the experiences, travels and lifestyle you can have, and the choices you can make, with the people you care about.

However, yesterday I had an income-related moment I thought you may appreciate.

I was going through a finance form over the phone with someone I know well, who hates their job, but they told me my network-marketing business was a scam. In fact, they told me that several times over several years. I ignored them, as ultimately their opinion had no relevance to me at all.

So, that moment came in the form where he said ‘what’s your monthly income?’.
I answer.

He says “no, your monthly income, not annual”.

I say “that is monthly”.

Silence ensues. Mild gulping noise is then heard.

After he composes himself he says “oh, it does work then?”

#awkward

This post isn’t about gloating to my pal. He’s made his choice – and some people would rather be right, than happy. Even when they’re wrong! It’s about sticking true to your own vision and path.

Lesson: Providing you don’t take the opinions of people who aren’t where you want to be; and you don’t get put off by people who don’t know what they’re talking of; and avoid distractions; and keep working on your skills; and keep making the calls and following up; and don’t quit… Then your day is coming too!
